Many wonder if the Sabbath for youth today is relevant. Recent studies show that teens spend virtually every waking hour connected to the web or mbile devices. This means that there isn’t much time for anything else in life. But a loving God created all mankind to have a relationship with Him. God intended the Sabbath to form a weekly appointment to develop our relationship with Him. When we surrender our time, we’re on the right track to surrendering more of our lives to our Creator. And in turn, we’ll have joy and blessings (Isaiah  58:13-14).

Jesus healed more people on the Sabbath than any other day. It was his normal activity to go into the synagogue on the Sabbath day. He didn’t do this out of Jewish custom but rather to show us how to live and obey completely: “I did not come to destroy but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17). The word “fulfill” here denotes “to make full, to fill, to fill up . . . to fill to the full” or “to render full.”

Thus, because God made the Sabbath holy and Christ kept it, youth today should consider keeping it also.
